Cancer patients in the greater Baton Rouge area now have a new resource for help in their fight against cancer. Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge (CSGBR) has opened an Outreach Location at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center located on the campus of Our Lady of the Lake. This one-year pilot program is the first of several outreach initiatives being planned by Cancer Services.

Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge is dedicated to improving life for those living with cancer in the 10-parish capital area. For the last 48 years, it has provided free, comprehensive support services at one central office located on Lobdell Avenue in Baton Rouge.

Recent research has shown that cancer patients would benefit from more CSGBR locations, especially when dealing with barriers such as transportation issues or limited family support. Providing multiple locations will help make these vital support services more readily accessible to cancer patients in need.

A full-time Cancer Services social worker is on staff at the new site located on the 2nd floor of Mary Bird Perkins. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Monday through Friday and 2 – 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Patients may come at anytime during those hours. No appointment is necessary. Please call (225) 927-2273 for additional information.

This valuable community resource is being provided in partnership with Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.
