A Volunteer Appreciation Reception was held by the Office of Development on the evening of January 29, 2009 at the home of Brett and Renee Furr to show Mary Bird Perkins’ sincere appreciation for each volunteer’s help in the fight against cancer. Richard Lipsey, Chairman, MBP’s Board of Directors, presented the first Louis D. Curet Volunteer Fundraiser Award to Louis Curet. This award will henceforth be presented to honor and recognize an individual in the community who, through specific achievements in launching a new or improved development program, has made a significant and unique service contribution to the philanthropic initiatives of Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center or Foundation. Lipsey also presented the first Hillar C. Moore, Jr. Outstanding Service Award to Hillar Moore to honor and recognize an individual in the community who has made a significant and unique service contribution to the philanthropic efforts of Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center or Foundation.
