WHAT IS NCORP?
NCORP focuses on conducting multisite cancer clinical trials and cancer care delivery research studies. Mary Bird Perkins - Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center, LSU Health Sciences Center-Shreveport and LSU-New Orleans (the coordinating institution for the grants) are collaborating on this initiative, and are referred to collectively as the Gulf South Minority/Underserved NCI Community Oncology Research Program. Together, we are combining our strengths and experience to bring advanced NCI clinical trials to the citizens of Louisiana. Click here to find out more.
Clinical trials are research studies that involve human beings in order to test new ways to prevent, detect, diagnose or treat diseases. A drug must be part of a clinical trial before the FDA will approve it to be put on the market.
