Mary Bird Perkins believes every Louisiana citizen has the right to information and services that allow them to make informed health care decisions and to have access to basic health care services. To address this, Mary Bird Perkins created the C.A.R.E. Network in 2002 to plan and implement services and programs for cancer patients, health care professionals and the general public. This includes patient social services, nutritional services, dental services, transportation and patient education; professional education; community education ; clinical research; clinical trials; tumor registry; cancer screenings; lymphedema clinics and interactive cancer risk assessments.
